FC 25 Promo SBCs and Evolutions: What Works and What Doesn’t

There were high hopes for the Immortals promo, and rightfully so. The leaks for Evolutions went wild before it dropped, and the fact that only Icons and Heroes were in packs set serious expectations. Past years gave us top-tier promos with similar setups—so this was expected to be lights out. Unfortunately, EA missed the mark in several areas.

That’s not to say the promo is all bad, though. While it hasn’t lived up to the hype, it’s not the worst promo of the year. The Become Immortal Evolution additions created confusion, the SBC content hasn’t been exciting, and the pack weight feels worse than in previous years. But there are still market opportunities to exploit, especially since many players are calling this a mid-promo.

Road to the Final and Market Hype

Champions League action influenced some card values significantly. Arsenal’s win over Madrid turned attention toward Ødegaard and Ben White, who are close to a semifinal upgrade—but haven’t received one yet.

Declan Rice made headlines with two stunning free kicks, sending his card from 90K to 120K. These moments generate in-game hype, which can push certain card prices up quickly. Tonali and Vinicius were other big movers due to Evolution activity, with Tonali jumping from 6K to nearly 10K.

A word of caution: only Road to the Final cards are live and none are on the market—they’re all from SBCs or objectives. Avoid buying Dreamchasers thinking they’re upgradeable.

FC 25 Promo EVO Confusion

The Become Immortal Evolution dropped with a lot of unclear instructions. EA updated the menu but didn’t clarify enough. The latest stage lets players select PlayStyle+ traits and boost ratings from 90 to 92. All of it must be done in Rivals or FUT Champions—not wins, just games played with goals scored. For those who avoid Champs, EA included an objective that gives 1,000 Champs points after two Rivals matches, making access easier.

However, confusion arose from how PlayStyle+ options are split. FUT Champs gives a choice between Intercept, Incisive, and Quick Step, while Rivals offers Anticipate, Finesse, and one more. This limitation prevents combinations like Incisive and Quick Step, frustrating many players.

Wording also tripped people up. For example, it seemed like 5-star/5-star players couldn’t benefit, but that’s not true. If a card already has a 5-star trait, it can still become 5-star/5-star. The objective descriptions misled players into thinking goals had to come from the evolved player—when in reality, any goal counts as long as the Immortal card is in the starting 11.

Cards already featuring a PlayStyle+ can only receive one more from the player pick, not two. That adds another layer of decision-making. It’s all doable—but overwhelming.

Taking a Step Back: What Went Wrong?

The FC 25 Promo had unmatched hype. Icons and Heroes only? The community expected another Trophy Titans or Golazo-level promo. But while those cards are still packable, the rest of the content hasn’t delivered. The 90-rated Bellingham prediction going to 94 was enough to send expectations through the roof—none of which materialized.

Much of the frustration comes from the disconnect between leaks and reality. False or overhyped leaks set unrealistic expectations. EA’s inability to prevent these leaks fuels disappointment, especially when the final product doesn’t match. The leaked Strikeforce Evo wasn’t revealed beforehand, and it was universally praised—surprise works, and this promo didn’t have enough of it.

Beckenbauer has been the promo’s best SBC, offering value and usability. Thierry Henry divides opinion—his name carries weight, but the lack of five-star skills or weak foot limits his appeal. As more players look to Team of the Season, EA must deliver big with Team 2 to recover lost momentum.
