The ShapeShifters promo is finally ending, and all attention is now on the long-awaited Futties event in FC 25. While EA hasn’t dropped a loading screen yet, early leaks from sources like AsyFUT have stirred up plenty of discussion. The most talked-about reveal? The “Great of the Game” Icons and Heroes, expected to release as a side promo alongside Futties Team 1 this Friday.

Great of the Game Icons and Heroes in FC 25
This content surprised many. Most believed Great of the Game cards would debut during ShapeShifters, but EA seems to have delayed them for impact. It’s still unclear how these cards will appear—through packs, SBCs, objectives, or a mix. Players like Ramires, Park Ji-sung, Joe Cole, Tomas Brolin, Tomáš Rosický, Lars Ricken, Jean-Pierre Papin, Rudi Völler, and Fernando Morientes have received no special versions all year, which makes them top candidates for upgraded items.
The stat reveals so far appear to be predictions, not confirmed numbers. But when trusted leakers start posting graphics, there’s usually some truth behind them. A special version of these underused Icons and Heroes would be a solid refresh for late-game squads.
Card Design and EVO Details for Futties
The official card art for Great of the Game Icons closely resembles Futties cards. Both include a pink-orange theme, with Icons adding the familiar white base and some blue or gold touches. We haven’t seen confirmed Futties Season Pass PlayStyle+ EVO leaks yet, which is odd. Typically, these show up days before the new season begins.
That should change soon. With just two days before the new season, the leaks will likely start. Many expect EA to release several high-end cards with five PlayStyle+ traits. Last year’s Great of the Game items were live, though it’s unclear if EA will repeat that format. If any 99-rated cards drop, they’ll probably feature five PlayStyle+ slots, which could make them more appealing than some lower-rated cards with fewer traits.
SBC Drops, Sprint League, and Market Watch
Today’s content rotation focused on final ShapeShifters SBCs. Athenea del Castillo and Ezri Konsa stood out this week, but EA still hasn’t released Sergej Milinković-Savić or Manuel Neuer’s flashback cards. Since both involve position changes, they would need to appear during ShapeShifters, so time’s running out.
Day three of the Sprint League tournament is live, and matches continue to feel competitive. Today’s update could also introduce the Low Driven+ EVO consumable at the RW position—this one was leaked earlier and has yet to go live.
Most recent Tuesdays have included a new EVO, part of EA’s weekly cycle of Friday-Saturday-Sunday drops with a Tuesday follow-up. So far, leakers like FootPolice have posted EVOs in the morning before EA releases them at 6 PM content time.
On the market, prices moved quickly following Path to Glory upgrades. Ada Hegerberg jumped from 24K to over 130K after her 5★/5★ boost. Grace Geyoro and others followed suit. Selling during the hype might be the safest option now. With Futties about to shift the entire market, holding could backfire.
Another example is Reece James. He dropped from 1M coins to 700K overnight, triggering talk of coin transfers due to a suspicious undercut. He’ll likely rebound, but many high-end ShapeShifters may drop further as newer cards release.
Should You Save Packs for Futties?
The best move now might be to grind but not open everything. You can keep crafting 83+ picks and SBCs while saving 84×10s for the promo drop. With Futties, Great of the Game, and potential re-releases expected in packs, holding packs gives you better odds.
Last year, Futties ran for about five weeks. There’s time to release top-tier cards gradually. If EA delivers quality upgrades, rewards, and engaging SBCs, the final months of FC 25 could see a much-needed boost in activity. If not, many players may check out early.
