A new Far Cry 7 leak suggests Ubisoft is making the biggest gameplay changes in the franchise’s history. According to prominent Ubisoft dataminer RogueTx, the next mainline entry will feature PvPvE survival gameplay, extraction-style mechanics, weapon durability, and a persistent 72-hour time limit.
As with any unannounced game details, none of the leaked information has been officially confirmed by Ubisoft.
Leak Points to Extraction-Based Gameplay
According to RogueTx, Far Cry 7 shifts away from the series’ traditional open-world sandbox formula in favor of a high-stakes survival experience built around scavenging, completing objectives, and extracting safely.
The leak claims players will form online squads and attempt to rescue up to six family members from a militant faction known as the Sons of Truth. Throughout each run, players must manage resources, complete objectives, and survive encounters with both AI enemies and other players.
The previously rumored 72-hour in-game time limit is also said to remain part of the experience, forcing players to carefully prioritize objectives before time expires.
New Survival Systems Reportedly Included
RogueTx’s leaked information also outlines several new gameplay systems that emphasize survival and resource management.
According to the leak, Far Cry 7 will include:
- PvPvE gameplay featuring both human players and AI enemies
- Weapon durability requiring equipment maintenance or replacement
- Safe houses for preparing and storing progress
- Wildlife threats including grizzly bears, wolves, foxes, and deer
- A resource-focused survival loop built around extraction gameplay
If accurate, these mechanics would represent a dramatic departure from previous Far Cry games, which traditionally focused on open-world exploration and story-driven single-player progression.
Leak May Explain Ubisoft’s Two Far Cry Projects
The latest claims also line up with earlier reports that Ubisoft had been developing two separate Far Cry projects.
Previous leaks identified Project Blackbird as the next mainline Far Cry title, while Project Maverick was reportedly designed as a standalone multiplayer extraction experience.
According to RogueTx, many of Maverick’s survival and multiplayer systems now appear to have been incorporated into Far Cry 7. It’s currently unclear whether these mechanics replace the traditional campaign or exist as a separate game mode.
Ubisoft Has Yet to Confirm the Details
Far Cry 6 launched in 2021 and largely followed the franchise’s established formula of open-world exploration, stealth, and large-scale combat. If the latest leak proves accurate, Far Cry 7 would mark the series’ most significant gameplay overhaul to date.
For now, however, Ubisoft has not officially announced these features, so the reported PvPvE gameplay, extraction mechanics, and survival systems should be treated as rumors until confirmed.
