The new Fortnite update has rolled out for October, and Siphon is the talk of the town. The items added for Fortnite’s birthday event have been vaulted. The firework flare gun, balloons, and the presents (which contained the balloon medallion) are no longer available, as they were exclusive to the birthday event.
Map Changes – Less Water
The center of the map now has significantly less water, with one of the rivers leading to the center completely dried up as well. This has removed a lot of water from the map. Additionally, a countdown timer now appears at the Rift Beacons on the hill outside Reckless Railways, counting down to Saturday. More details will be provided later in the video.
Greenwater Dashes Nerfed – Fortnite Update
The greenwater dashes from the Underworld biome were nerfed in this Fortnite update. The distance covered while dashing has been reduced. This change is somewhat surprising, considering the dashes have been in the game since Season 2, which started in March. Despite not being a major issue, this update makes the dashes less effective.
Sheeri Claws and War Machine Hover Jets Changes
Another change likely to upset players is the inability to spam the sheeri claws while using the War Machine hover jets. The sheeri claws feature a dash attack that only activates again once the player hits the ground. Previously, the War Machine hover jets allowed players to chain dash attacks by activating the jets after each dash. This combination was beneficial for resetting fights, especially against items like the Captain America shield auto turret or Iron Man gloves auto turret playstyle. However, the new update prevents this, making it impossible to spam the dash attack. This change significantly nerfs the sheeri claws and buffs the Iron Man gauntlets and Captain America shield auto turret playstyles, as they become more effective with reduced opportunities for resetting fights.
Guards No Longer Get Knocked – Fortnite Update
One of the best changes in this Fortnite update is that guards no longer get knocked; they simply die when their health depletes. At boss locations, guards will no longer block medallions or doorways when knocked. This change may be minor, but it adds convenience when fighting guards.
Siphon Changes in Ranked Mode
Ranked mode now features 50 siphon per elimination. Last week, it provided 40 siphon per elimination, but this week it increased to 50. If players have the Dr. Doom medallion, they receive 100 health or shield per elimination, making this a notable change.
Fortnitemares Teaser and Upcoming Content
The Fortnitemares teaser was shared in this update, setting the stage for the Fortnitemares event later in the month. While the current update may seem lacking in content, more will come as Fortnitemares approaches. Additions include a saw Mythic item that explodes and some content related to Mephisto, a demon from Marvel lore. These leaks may be subject to change, but more details are available on Hypex’s Twitter.
Mini Event Countdown and Details
The main highlight of this Fortnite update is the upcoming mini-event on Saturday, October 5th, at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. A countdown timer is visible on the hill outside Reckless Railways, leading to this event. Expect a video on Friday with more details on what to anticipate. This mini-event, involving Dr. Doom as the main antagonist and Rift Beacons linked to Tony Stark, will likely impact Doom Island, which is set to disappear after the event.
While this mini-event will not be a full-fledged end-of-season or end-of-chapter event, several similar events have occurred throughout Chapter 5, like Pandora’s Box and the Zeus lightning event. Expectations should be kept realistic to avoid disappointment, as these mini-events typically offer modest but exciting experiences.
