Everything in Helldiver 2 Patch Update: Weapon Fixes and War Map Update

Leviathan Update in Helldiver 2 Patch 01.003.104

Arrowhead’s latest Helldiver 2 update dropped on Tuesday, bringing the much-anticipated patch 01.003.104. Among the highlights, Leviathans received major balance changes in response to community frustration. These armored threats now behave far less aggressively.

The four main Leviathan changes include:

  • No more ragdolling: Leviathan attacks no longer knock players around, making engagements feel less chaotic.

  • Lower spawn rates: Fewer Leviathans will appear per mission, reducing the sheer volume of encounters.

  • Delayed targeting: There’s now a one-second delay between target locks, giving players a window to react.

  • Destroyable cannons: Like Bile Titans and Striders, Leviathans now have destructible parts, allowing more tactical options.

These changes aim to restore fairness and lessen the difficulty spike these enemies introduced. Whether the tweaks deliver long-term balance remains to be seen, but early feedback has been cautiously optimistic.

Weapon Fixes and Customization Crash Warnings

Outside the Leviathan rework, the patch also tackled several minor but noticeable issues. Weapons like the P-92 Warden no longer penetrate when ricocheting. While some might see this as a downgrade, others argue it aligns better with balance. A mounted weapon bug that prevented firing after stim use has also been resolved.

Additional fixes include:

  • Guard Dog description corrections.

  • Emote-related weapon switch bugs.

  • Melee and stim animation glitches after certain inputs.

The weapon customization crash, however, persists. QA lead Jojo mentioned slowly navigating through customization menus may prevent it for now. A fix could arrive Thursday, though a delay into next week remains possible. Other known issues like missing sound effects on certain weapons and the broken Gunslinger passive remain unresolved.

Community Drop-Off and War Effort Concerns

Current player numbers reflect a worrying trend. On Steam, only 22,000 players are active, with just 4,000 on PlayStation. That leaves the 24-hour peak at roughly 70,000—a significant dip from the game’s earlier high points. The player count appears to fluctuate between patch hype and content droughts.

The reality is Helldiver 2 isn’t designed for daily grind longevity. It’s a title meant for intense sessions followed by breaks. The challenge for Arrowhead now lies in maintaining engagement during downtime. The lack of daily play incentives, combined with crash bugs and performance issues, may be pushing players away faster than expected.

Galactic War Map and Warrant Rotation

Looking at the current Galactic War map, efforts to fulfill the major order remain ongoing. The Illuminate kill requirement sits at 66% completion, while Termicide liberation efforts lag behind at 26%. Fortunately, a recent strategic opportunity allows faster Termicide planet clears by reducing kill quotas if players liberate resource-rich planets like Nablaria-1.

Progress will depend on daily planetary wins. One liberated planet could drop the remaining requirement by a full billion kills. Still, that demands coordination and effort from an increasingly split community. A quarter of the player base reportedly avoids major order objectives entirely, choosing instead to fight bugs or Illuminate enemies for fun.

Meanwhile, the Warden has returned to the Super Store. Available for two days, this weapon will rotate out for another 12 days once gone. Players hoping to grab it should act quickly.
