We’re in the thick of what may be the most exciting time for Warhammer 40k video games. Between long-requested remasters like Dawn of War and the surge of updates across Darktide, Rogue Trader, and Space Marine 2, there’s never been a better time to be a 40K fan. This golden age is not just hype—it’s backed by new classes, new stories, and some very real content roadmaps.
Arbites in Darktide and Rogue Trader
The Adeptus Arbites have now arrived in Darktide, introduced as the Arbitrator class. Unlike the previous reject-origin archetypes, this one brings proper authority to the battlefield, shifting the tone of gameplay significantly. It’s a win for variety, and signals that more “elite” roles might be coming soon—think Adeptus Sororitas, Mechanicus Tech Adepts, or other niche Imperial agents.
Rogue Trader isn’t left behind either. The Arbites are now a playable origin with an arc-type of their own, adding moral tension and lore depth to your campaign. Developer Owlcat has also confirmed support through at least 2026, with a second season pass already live.
Rogue Trader DLCs: Trazyn and the Processional
The next expansions for Rogue Trader are looking especially promising. DLC 3, titled The Infinite Museum, dives into the vaults of Trazyn the Infinite—an eccentric Necron known for collecting everything from ancient relics to living beings. The potential here is huge. We could see all kinds of cross-faction interactions or even unexpected cameos from factions like the T’au.
DLC 4 is called Processional of the Damned, set in a cosmic graveyard of derelict ships. That screams “Votann” or “Squats” to some fans—scavenger factions haven’t really had their due yet. It could also set up a deeper crossover, potentially timing with Mechanicus 2, which remains undated but has been teased as a spiritual follow-up to one of 40K’s most beloved tactical games.
Space Marine 2 Siege Mode and PvP Expansion
Space Marine 2 is evolving quickly. The new Siege Mode adds a horde-style co-op challenge to keep players busy outside of campaign and standard PvP. But it’s the September 10.0 update that will really shake things up. This patch introduces a Chaos vs Chaos PvP mode, Hellbrutes, and an entirely new melee weapon: the Power Axe.
This axe could land somewhere between the heavy-hitting Power Fist and the agile Power Sword, offering a more balanced mid-tier melee playstyle. It’s also a sign that Saber Interactive is pushing PvP harder, which is essential for longevity.
Even bigger than the axe is the announcement that the Techmarine is coming as a playable class. Not in the next patch—but eventually. Since Space Marine 2 has confirmed post-launch support up until Space Marine 3, we can expect more classes like the Apothecary, Librarian, or Chaplain over the years. This matches a broader trend of class additions, something that Darktide also seems to be doubling down on.
A Unified Vision Across the Games (Warhammer 40k)
What’s fascinating is how coordinated some of these updates feel. The Arbites appearing across Darktide and Rogue Trader, and the speculation of Votann in Rogue Trader alongside potential Mechanicus 2 synergy, suggests developers are thinking more holistically about 40K’s ecosystem.
The fan wish list is clear: Genestealer Cults in Darktide and Necrons in Space Marine 2. If those two pieces fall into place, we’ll be witnessing a truly interconnected set of Warhammer games—each with their own identity, but feeding into the same brutal, gothic universe.
