Elder Scrolls Daggerfall Unity New Game: A Comprehensive Breakdown

  • Daggerfall Unity creator working on a new original game inspired by The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall
  • The upcoming game will support mods and aims to leave an impact on the gaming industry
  • The creator is shifting focus from their IT Managed Services business to work on this dream project

Following the release of Daggerfall Unity, a recreation of Bethesda’s classic, The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, its creator is now working on a new project. This venture will be an original title inspired by The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall and will share similar characteristics with Daggerfall Unity.

Daggerfall might be the most expansive game in The Elder Scrolls series, even though it precedes well-known titles like Skyrim and Morrowind. Daggerfall Unity brought the original game to the Unity game engine, offering a vastly improved experience.

Gavin Clayton, Daggerfall Unity’s creator, announced in an interview with DualShockers that he and his collaborators are working on a new game. Although there is no official name yet, Clayton aims to incorporate the lessons learned from over a decade of developing Daggerfall Unity. While creating a new game poses different challenges compared to porting a project, Clayton hopes that his new creation receives recognition similar to Daggerfall Unity.

Limited details about the new game are available, but it is said to follow “the same vein” as The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall Unity. With Clayton being a fan of the genre, the upcoming title will feature a vast world to explore, akin to Daggerfall, and intricate systems to navigate. Mod support is also planned, considering the numerous mods already available for Daggerfall. Development on the game is underway, and Clayton is reducing his focus on his IT Managed Services business to spend more time on this passion project.

The enormous scale of Bethesda’s sandbox RPGs has influenced generations of players and developers. Many are still discovering the allure of the older Elder Scrolls titles, such as Daggerfall, with the unique design approach Bethesda is known for. It remains to be seen how Clayton’s new project will affect players and the gaming industry as a whole.
