Duet Night Abyss Characters – How to Unlock & Tips

Summary

    • Features 19 characters unlockable through four main methods: story progression, Secret Letter Clues trading, Nocturnal Echoes boss fights, and the time-limited Immersive Theatre.
    • Grinding involves collecting Thought:Character items through farming methods like Covert Commissions, weekly boss refights, and timed dungeon challenges.

Want to unlock and collect your favorite characters in Duet Night Abyss? The game doesn’t really explain how to get them, so most players had to figure things out through trial and error. If you’re unsure how to unlock certain characters, this guide will walk you through the process and help you get started!

Story Progression Unlocks

You can get the characters like Berenica, Rebecca, Outsider, Daphne, Margie, Truffle and Filbert, and Lisbell free by just playing the main story. They give you a solid start with different playstyles and factions. However, you’ll still need to gather Thought: Character shards and materials to make them stronger. Even free characters need extra work to shine in tougher battles.

Secret Letter Clue System

Besides the main story, you can also unlock characters by earning Secret Letter clues, the main currency of the game. At launch, nine characters use this method, including Berenica, Rebecca, Lynn, Margie, Randy, Sibylle, Outsider, Daphne, and Lady Nifle.

You must complete story events and daily missions, then use 10 clues to buy a Secret Letter from Covert Commissions. Using a Secret Letter in Covert Commissions gives random rewards: Bronze for basics, Silver for two shards, and Gold for ten with only a 10% chance. Since you need 30 shards to unlock a character, expect multiple runs unless you’re lucky.

Nocturnal Echoes Boss Farming

This method lets you replay major story bosses at higher difficulty levels, but level 50 fights are special since they drop character shards. You can farm seven characters this way, including Phantasio, Lisbell, Tabethe, Yale, Hellfire, Rhythm, and Truffle and Filbert. Some of these overlap with story rewards, which is intentional because you’ll also need Nocturnal Echoes to collect their Intron materials.

Level 50 bosses drop 15-25 shards weekly, which you must later convert into Thought items. However, the grind is slower than Secret Letter farming, but it’s worth it for late-game materials. Be warned, since level 50 bosses are tough, so make sure your team and gear are upgraded before diving in.

Immersive Theatre Challenges

If you’re eyeing for the newest characters, go to Immersive Theater where the hardest challenges can be found. Each challenge pits you against waves of enemies within 90 seconds using two teams of three fully leveled characters. This means you need six leveled heroes and plenty of enhanced weapons to stand a chance.

In this method, Psyche is the character you can get for 28 days before being rotated to Nocturnal Echoes. This system pushes players to grind during each featured event for higher drop chances. These challenges reward you with the featured character, their signature weapon, and many Secret Letter Clues, making it tough but worth it. So, if you’d like to test your skills and strength, this method is perfect for you!

Final Thoughts

The Duet Night Abyss provides you plenty of methods to get the characters that match your playstyle. Focus on daily quests for Secret Letter Clues and upgrade a few characters. Tackle Nocturnal Echoes and Immersive Theatre only when your team is strong.
