Dragon Ball: 10 Times Goku was Actually Smart

Even the strongest heroes have their quirks! Dragon Ball: Goku is a goofy character who people often forget he’s actually pretty smart. Granted he’s a goofball sometimes, but man – this Saiyan has done some seriously brilliant stuff in Dragon Ball Z, and Goku has proven he can think fast on his feet, too. These quick thinking moments haven’t just saved his friends, they’ve saved the world! Get ready to see 10 times Goku surprised everyone with his brilliance.

Goku Know Gohan Was the Key to Beating Cell

While Goku wasn’t strong enough to take on Cell himself, he did have a weapon he could use: his son Gohan. Gohan has tremendous power, but it comes from within him. But Goku realized that if he could push Gohan past the edge then his son would be a great fighter. By the conclusion of the battle against Cell, everybody had to question what Goku had in mind. Did he even have one? Well, his plan was Gohan all along! Because Goku believed in his son so much, Gohan became the first Saiyan to ever reach a new level called Ascended Saiyan.

Goku Admit that He Cannot Defeat Cell

Goku’s never one to back down from a fight. So, when he says he can’t win, you know it’s serious. During the Cell Games, Goku throws down with Cell to get a feel for his power. After trading punches, Goku throws everyone a curveball: he admits defeat. It takes guts and brains to admit you’re outmatched. But Goku’s not running scared or giving up. He’s taking a step back to size up Cell and figure out the best way to win, even if it means someone else has to take the final blow.

Goku Discovers a Flawed Form

Training for the Cell Games gets intense! Inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Goku achieves a new level of Super Saiyan – Super Saiyan Second Grade! It packs a serious punch, but there’s a catch: he gets super strong, but super slow too. Vegeta ends up reaching this form first, totally missing this drawback, which lets Cell whoop on him later. See, Goku isn’t just a brawling Saiyan! He’s actually pretty smart, realizing this weakness before it cost him (or Gohan) the fight.

Goku Learns Instant Transmission

Goku’s always learning, even when he’s missing in action! One of his coolest tricks is Instant Transmission. It lets him teleport anywhere, which is super handy. He can also use it like a superpowered GPS to find people by sensing their energy. Remember when he tracked down the Namekians on their new planet, even though it was lightyears away? That takes some serious focus!

The Strategic Brilliance of Letting Vegeta Live

Goku always lets his enemies live, and some folks give him a hard time about it. But letting Vegeta stick around? That was a genius move! Here’s why: Vegeta became a huge asset to the team. Thanks to him, Bulma could create awesome Saiyan armor, perfect for training in that Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Plus, remember when Goku couldn’t beat those androids? Vegeta stepped right up and saved the day! But most importantly, by letting Vegeta live, Goku gave him a chance to become a better person. Who knew a grumpy Saiyan prince could learn kindness, right?

Unraveling the Assassin’s Time-Skipping Secret

During the Universe 6 tournament in Dragon Ball Super, Goku faces off against Hit, a mysterious assassin who’s giving him a serious beating. Just before this fight, Vegeta got totally schooled by the same guy! Hit seems untouchable, dodging every attack Goku throws at him.

But how is he pulling this off? Mid-fight, Goku has a genius moment and figures out Hit’s secret: he can skip TINY chunks of time, like 0.1 seconds! With this knowledge, Goku can finally predict Hit’s moves! It turns out Hit’s been fighting for hundreds of years, but Goku’s the first one to crack the code. Talk about a quick learner!

Goku Trains Goten and Trunks for Fusion

With Gohan seemingly gone, Vegeta sacrificing himself, and Goku only visiting Earth, things looked grim against the villainous Majin Buu. Some fans think Goku could’ve easily handled Buu with Super Saiyan 3, and maybe they’re right. But Goku saw this as a chance for the next generation to step up!

He taught Goten and Trunks the Fusion Dance, creating the hilarious and powerful Gotenks. Sure, Goku eventually defeats Buu, but teaching the boys fusion wasn’t a bad move! Gotenks brought some seriously funny moments to the series, and who can forget their epic fight with Buu?

Goku’s Froggy Genius: How a Last-Minute Toss Saved the Day!

Not every Goku is known for his brains, but this Ginyu Force battle proves to be pretty strategic! Ginyu has this weird habit of swapping bodies with anyone he touches. He even manages to steal Goku’s body for a while. Luckily, Goku gets his own body back, but he’s pretty banged up. Just when Ginyu tries to snag Vegeta’s body next, Goku pulls off a wild move: he throws a random frog at Ginyu! In a hilarious twist of fate, the frog actually hits Ginyu and turns him into a frog himself! Talk about a lucky (and slimy) last-ditch effort to save the day!

Goku’s Sensory Skills Save the Day

Remember that creepy villain Buu from Dragon Ball Super? To stop him from waking up, Goku, Supreme Kai, Gohan, and Vegeta snuck onto a spaceship. That’s when Goku got stuck fighting this weird monster named Yakon who, get this, eats light! To make things worse, the bad guy controlling the ship, Babidi, turned off all the lights, giving Yakon a major advantage (think fighting blindfolded!). But Goku’s not one to back down! He could still sense Yakon, even in the dark, and started blasting him with his Super Saiyan power.

Here’s the twist: Yakon actually absorbs Goku’s light, making him weaker! Talk about freaky power! Goku kept powering up again and again, but Yakon just kept sucking up his light. Finally, something unexpected happened: Yakon exploded! Turns out, the gluttonous monster couldn’t handle all that light he absorbed. Who knew a little strategic Super Saiyan-ing could be so explosive?

Goku Finds a New Hope on New Namek

After Kami sacrificed himself to power up Piccolo against Cell, the Earth’s Dragon Balls disappeared. No more wishes to revive all the innocent people Cell killed. But Goku being Goku, he wouldn’t give up! He hatched a plan to travel to a new planet called New Namek, where the Namekians had relocated. Luckily, he found a young Namekian named Dende who agreed to become Earth’s new guardian. And guess what? With Dende in charge, the Earth’s Dragon Balls got a major upgrade! Now they could grant three wishes, just like the powerful Namekian ones.

Conclusion

While Dragon Ball Goku is most famous for his brutish strength and fighting spirit, these are actual examples of who he is. He’s quick to learn, smart, and a merciful warrior. Under seemingly impossible circumstances, Goku manages to prevail, save the day, and sometimes even turn the universe around.
