Wall jumps, grapples, and ground pounds unlock progressively, opening access to new areas and secrets. While the mechanics aren’t groundbreaking, their polished execution keeps traversal fun from start to finish.
Disney Illusion Island Boss Fights and Combat Design
Interestingly, Disney Illusion Island features no traditional combat. Players must avoid enemies instead of fighting them. While this might disappoint fans of action-heavy Metroidvanias, it keeps the experience approachable for younger or less experienced players. Boss fights also emphasize puzzle-solving over aggression—triggering falling toys or shaking down acorns to defeat foes through clever maneuvering.
Despite the creativity of the world, these boss battles feel repetitive. Each encounter relies on similar avoidance patterns and object-triggered attacks.
