The short version: Druid is looking extremely strong, Paladin and Warlock are both eating well, Barbarian is getting hit in two of its best builds, and every single Unique item in the game just got a guaranteed affix system that changes how you farm and build forever. Early download opens on June 25 on all platforms except Steam.
If you are deciding what class to play, what to target farm, or whether any of your existing gear carries over in a useful way, this breakdown covers all the confirmed changes from the official patch notes.
The Unique Item System Just Got a Major Upgrade
This is the change that affects every player regardless of class. All Unique items now drop with two guaranteed affixes starting in Season 14. Two of the four affixes on any Unique will be fixed and known ahead of time. The other two remain random. This makes target farming dramatically more predictable and removes a lot of the frustration of getting the right item with completely wrong rolls.
Here is what some of the most popular Uniques are guaranteed to roll with:
The full list covers every Unique in the game and is available in the official Blizzard patch notes.
You Can Now Enchant Mythic Uniques (Yes, Including The Grandfather)
The second massive item change: Unique, Mythic Unique, and Iconic Mythic items can now have one affix altered at the Enchanter. That means if your Grandfather drops with a useless physical damage roll, you can now take it to the Enchanter and reroll it into something like Critical Strike Damage Multiplier. This was not possible at any point before Season 14.
Affixes that come from Enchanting on a Mythic Unique are always at maximum roll. So the floor on your best items just got raised considerably.
Mythic Crafting Changes: Slot Targeting Is Now Real
The Horadric Cube’s Upgrade to Mythic recipe got a player-friendly overhaul. If you put a pair of boots into the recipe, you will get Mythic boots back. The same applies to every gear slot. Previously, the output slot was completely random, making the system a gamble most players avoided outside of desperate endgame gambling.
A few other confirmed Mythic crafting changes:
-
You can begin crafting Mythic items starting at level 70
-
Pandemonium Fragments are the new seasonal currency earned from closing Ruptures, and they are what you need for the upgrade recipe
-
No more Husks for this process. You will need Superior Layer Keys for the new seasonal boss
-
Existing Mythic Uniques cannot be used as crafting ingredients to prevent looping
Pandemonium Ruptures: Faster, Denser, Better Rewards
The seasonal activity received several tuning fixes based on PTR feedback:
-
Rupture tears now spawn more often and can be closed faster
-
New tiers inside Ruptures appear more quickly
-
Elite spawn rates inside Ruptures have been increased
-
Rupture tears now sometimes move around the map during the event
-
Mob density on Normal difficulty has been reduced. It was overtuned during the leveling phase
-
Ruptures spawn less frequently inside the Pit to keep that activity focused
-
Rewards from Ruptures and Realmwalker encounters have been improved overall
Completing a Rupture can still spawn a Realmwalker, which opens a portal to the Deathtoll Chamber for additional rewards and the best source of Mythic Unique upgrade currency.
Every Class: Who Won and Who Lost in 3.1.0
Barbarian: Two Core Builds Take Nerfs
Barbarian is getting hit in two spots most players will feel immediately:
-
Challenging Shout’s Damage Bonus upgrade no longer works on bosses, since bosses cannot be taunted. This is a targeted nerf to a skill that was providing big free damage in boss encounters.
-
The Berserking set takes a reduction. It has been the strongest set for Barb and the nerf brings it down noticeably.
On the upside, Bleed builds get a real buff. The Blood Letter set is receiving increased damage multipliers, with stacking bonuses for Rupture interactions. Bleed Barb may finally become a legitimate option in Season 14.
Barbarian remains a strong overall class. The nerfs hit specific builds, not the class foundation.
Druid: The Biggest Winner This Patch
Shred Druid was struggling in Season 13 and Blizzard has corrected that hard. Shred Druid gets a significant buff to crit chance, which directly addresses the build’s biggest weakness going into higher Pit tiers. PTR testing showed Shred Druid clearing Pit 140 in around 6 minutes.
Other confirmed Druid buffs:
-
Power Shift gets buffed
-
Arc Druid gets buffed
-
Survival Instincts gets buffed
-
The Waxing Gibbous Unique now guarantees Weapon Damage and Skill Ranks to Shred as its fixed affixes
If you are starting fresh in Season 14, Shred Druid is one of the safest bets for a strong season.
Paladin: Broad Buff Pass Across Multiple Builds
Paladin is receiving one of the widest buff passes of any class this patch. Confirmed buffs include:
-
Oath skills across the board
-
Wing Strikes
-
Defiance Aura
-
Aegis
-
Seal of the Second Trumpet
-
Judgment Paladin interactions are improved, with that build potentially returning as a top tier option
Paladin players have a lot to look forward to and the class looks set to perform well across multiple build paths, not just one dominant meta pick.
Warlock: Cleaner to Play, Apocalypse Back Online
Warlock has had rotation clunkiness issues for a while. Patch 3.1.0 directly targets that:
-
Paragon uptime issues are fixed, making the class feel smoother in extended fights
-
Soul Shards get a major buff
-
The Apocalypse build was nerfed during the PTR run but has been buffed back in the final patch notes
-
Dread Claws gets a small additional buff
Warlock is shaping up to be a genuine top-tier class for players who want complex, high-damage gameplay.
Necromancer: Targeted Buffs
Necromancer receives several buffs in 3.1.0, with improvements focused on minion-adjacent and bone-focused builds. The class was not dominant coming into this season and these changes help close that gap.
Rogue: Buffs Land but the Infinite Damage Bug Remains Uncertain
Rogue gets buffs to cut-throat skills in this patch. The more pressing issue is the well-documented infinite damage exploit that has been active on live servers throughout Season 13. The fix has not been explicitly confirmed in the patch notes. Blizzard noted a fix for an Umbracrooks-related issue, but players testing the exploit on PTR reported it still worked through other means. Whether this is truly resolved at launch on June 30 remains unclear.
Sorcerer: Buffs to Two Specific Skills
Sorcerer receives buffs to Fundamental Release and Ice Fall. The class is still considered solid overall, though not at the very top of the pack based on current PTR results.
Solo Self-Found Mode Arrives in Season 14
Season 14 marks the first time Solo Self-Found mode comes to Diablo 4. Available for all Seasonal characters, SSF prevents any trading or partying with other players. Couch co-op is not eligible for SSF characters. This is a long-requested feature from the community and gives hardcore players a new challenge bracket to compete in.
Other Quality-of-Life Updates Worth Knowing
-
War Plans can now be synced across your full party, so everyone runs the same board together without needing to reset individually
-
The Obols cap has been raised
-
The Tower and Leaderboards are leaving beta and now offer cosmetic Halo rewards at the end of each leaderboard reset and each season
-
Non-Ancestral Uniques and Unique Charms can now use the Unique Power Reroll feature in the Horadric Cube
-
From June 30 to July 7, 2026, all players can try out the Warlock class for free up to level 25 on all platforms
