The Web Mother is an Elite Enemy found on the Rex Infernus map in Black Ops 7 Zombies. This enormous spider can slow players with webs, transform zombies into more dangerous enemies, and quickly make an already crowded fight difficult to control.
Fortunately, the Web Mother has a clear elemental weakness. Shadow Rift is the best Ammo Mod to use against it, especially when combined with the right Augment.
There is also an unusual interaction with the Void Claw that lets you grapple onto the Web Mother and briefly ride on its back.
Web Mother Elemental Weakness
The Web Mother is weak to the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod.
Shadow Rift deals increased damage against the Web Mother, making it the most useful elemental option when preparing specifically for this Elite Enemy.
For even better results, equip the Big Game Major Augment.
Big Game allows Shadow Rift’s main effect to activate against Elite Enemies. When it triggers on a Web Mother, the creature can be teleported into the air before crashing back down and taking additional damage.
Without Big Game, Shadow Rift is still worth using because the Web Mother remains vulnerable to its bonus elemental damage. However, you won’t get the full teleport-and-drop effect.
A strong setup is therefore:
- Ammo Mod: Shadow Rift
- Major Augment: Big Game
- Strategy: Maintain distance and keep firing while staying mobile
This is similar to the Oni on Kowakujo, which is also vulnerable to Shadow Rift.
How to Beat the Web Mother
The most important rule when fighting a Web Mother is to keep moving.
Trying to stand your ground makes it much easier for the Elite to land its web attacks while regular zombies close in around you. Instead, maintain a comfortable distance and continue rotating through open areas while dealing damage.
Shadow Rift should help shorten the fight considerably, particularly when Big Game activates.
You should also avoid focusing exclusively on the Web Mother. Its abilities can make the surrounding zombie horde more dangerous, so controlling regular enemies remains important throughout the encounter.
Watch Out for the Web Mother’s Webs
One of the Web Mother’s primary attacks involves spitting webs at players.
Getting caught can slow your movement, which is particularly dangerous in Zombies because even a short reduction in mobility can allow the surrounding horde to catch up.
If you become trapped in its webs, sprint to break free. Don’t stop moving and attempt to fight from the slowed position if you have enough space to escape first.
The Void Claw is another useful solution. Its grapple mobility can quickly create distance and help you escape before zombies surround you.
Kill Cocooned Zombies Quickly
The Web Mother doesn’t only attack players directly. It can also wrap zombies inside cocoons and transform them into Deathspinners.
This means leaving its cocooned targets unattended can make the fight progressively more difficult.
Whenever possible, deal with these zombies quickly rather than allowing additional threats to accumulate. The Web Mother is already dangerous enough without several enhanced enemies joining the fight.
Prioritize staying alive first, but eliminate its transformed zombies whenever you have enough breathing room.
How to Ride the Web Mother With the Void Claw
The strangest Web Mother interaction involves the Void Claw.
Instead of using the grapple exclusively for navigating Rex Infernus, you can grapple directly onto the Web Mother’s back. Doing so lets you temporarily ride the giant spider while attacking zombies beneath you.
It’s a fun trick, but it isn’t a particularly safe place to stay.
Nearby zombies can still attack you after a short period, and the horde will begin gathering around the Web Mother. Remaining on its back for too long can therefore leave you surrounded once you come down.
Use the trick briefly before grappling or moving back to safety.
Best Strategy Against the Web Mother
A straightforward Web Mother fight should look something like this:
- Equip Shadow Rift, preferably with the Big Game Major Augment.
- Keep your distance from the Web Mother and continuously rotate around the area.
- Avoid its web projectiles so your movement speed isn’t compromised.
- Sprint if you become caught in webs.
- Eliminate cocooned zombies before they become a bigger problem.
- Use the Void Claw to escape if the Web Mother or zombie horde corners you.
- Continue dealing Shadow Rift damage until the Elite is defeated.
The Web Mother looks intimidating, but its weakness makes it considerably easier to handle once you’re prepared. Shadow Rift with Big Game is the key counter, while constant movement prevents most of its web-based abilities from putting you in a dangerous position.
And if you’re willing to take the risk, the Void Claw gives you the added option of turning Rex Infernus’ giant spider into a temporary ride.
