Cleansing Nyxara’s Sanctuary is one of the more demanding parts of the Rex Infernus main quest in Black Ops 7 Zombies. The process involves finding an Ancient Scroll, completing a Titan sacrifice, precisely aiming a laser, defeating Shadow Souls, and finishing the ritual during rain.
The laser puzzle is particularly unforgiving, so knowing exactly what each step requires can save a lot of time.
How to Start Cleansing Nyxara’s Temple
Before starting Nyxara’s individual objectives, you must repair the Nexus Forge using the Void Talon.
Once the Forge is operational, you’ll be able to rotate three cranks connected to its inner, middle, and outer pillars. Adjust all three until the Nexus Forge aligns with Nyxara’s Sanctuary.
You’ll know you’ve succeeded when the blue beam fires into Nyxara’s dragon head.
With the beam correctly directed toward the temple, you can begin searching for the Ancient Scroll.
How to Get the Ancient Scroll
Equip the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod on one of your weapons before attempting this step.
The Ancient Scroll can drop from zombies killed through Shadow Rift activations. An efficient place to farm these kills is Nyxara’s Inner Sanctum, which you may already have visited while collecting parts for the Warden’s Blight Wonder Weapon.
Zombies continuously spawn in this area, making it easier to repeatedly trigger Shadow Rift until the Ancient Scroll appears.
Pick it up as soon as it drops.
Where to Place the Ancient Scroll
Take the Ancient Scroll into Nyxara’s Main Chamber and place it inside the stone brazier located in the center of the room.
You’ll now need to ignite the brazier using Astral Flame.
Return to the Nexus Forge and use the Void Claw to pull a purple orb into the Pack-a-Punch machine. Next, adjust the Forge’s cranks until the braziers change to purple flames.
Collect an Astral Flame, return to Nyxara’s Main Chamber, and throw it at the brazier containing the Ancient Scroll.
If you’ve done everything correctly, a red mist will enter a nearby zombie.
Do not kill that zombie. You need it for the next step.
How to Complete Nyxara’s Titan Offering
Lead the zombie affected by the red mist to Veytharion Passage.
Position the zombie in the center of the Titan’s gauntlets, then purchase the Titan Trap.
The marked zombie should move beneath one of the enormous gauntlets and get crushed.
Listen for dialogue from Nyxara afterward. Hearing her voice confirms that the sacrifice has registered and you can continue with the temple puzzle.
Nyxara Laser Dial Puzzle Solution
Return to Nyxara’s Main Chamber.
On the floor in front of the Ancient Scroll brazier is a stone tablet. Interact with the stone plate, then go prone on it.
Remain there until the stone moves and reveals a hidden dial.
Use a charged Warden’s Blight shot on the dial to launch it into the air. Once floating, the mechanism will begin projecting a laser.
This is where precision becomes important.
You need to adjust the dial so that its laser points low on the southern wall of Nyxara’s Main Chamber.
Shoot the dial’s rings to alter its position. Using Warden’s Blight on the middle ring allows you to make smaller adjustments, which is useful because the required position has very little margin for error.
Keep adjusting until the beam is aimed at the correct low section of the south wall.
How to Charge Nyxara’s Laser
Once the laser is correctly positioned, begin killing zombies directly underneath the floating dial.
Their souls will travel into the mechanism and charge the beam.
Continue killing zombies beneath it until the laser damages the targeted wall. Cracks should eventually appear before the wall breaks open and reveals a stone head.
If nothing happens despite multiple kills, your laser is probably slightly misaligned. Readjust the dial and try again.
Shoot the exposed stone head once the wall opens.
Doing so releases four Shadow Souls throughout Nyxara’s Main Chamber.
How to Kill Nyxara’s Shadow Souls
You must eliminate all four Shadow Souls before progressing.
Both Light Mend and Warden’s Blight are effective against them, so use either to quickly bring them down.
Search the entire chamber if one appears to be missing. Their movement can make them difficult to spot immediately, so use your minimap and listen for their audio cues.
After all four Shadow Souls are dead, attack the stone statue again.
Continue shooting it until your screen flashes white. This signals that you’ve successfully completed the puzzle and unlocked the final cleansing ritual.
How to Cleanse Nyxara’s Temple
Head to Nyxara’s Passage and obtain a Void Claw.
Find one of the purple orbs and use the Void Claw to move it until it’s positioned directly beneath Nyxara’s dragon head.
Once the orb is in place, hit it with a charged Warden’s Blight shot.
The orb should fly upward toward Nyxara, causing her eyes to glow purple. If her eyes don’t change, reposition the orb and try again.
Now you need one final ingredient: rain.
If it isn’t currently raining, return to the blue well associated with the blocks puzzle and interact with it. Doing so will trigger rain during the following round.
Wait for the weather to change before proceeding.
Once it’s raining, return to the Nexus Forge and collect an Astral Flame. You’ll also want another Void Claw.
Go back to Nyxara’s Passage and use the Void Claw to grapple to a higher position, giving yourself a clear angle toward the dragon head.
Throw the Astral Flame directly at Nyxara’s forehead.
A successful hit during the rain will cause lightning to strike Nyxara’s head, completing the ritual and cleansing the Sanctuary.
Nyxara’s Sanctuary Steps in Order
Here’s the entire process in a shorter checklist:
- Repair the Nexus Forge with the Void Talon.
- Align all three cranks so the blue beam hits Nyxara’s dragon head.
- Equip Shadow Rift.
- Trigger Shadow Rift kills until the Ancient Scroll drops.
- Place the Ancient Scroll in the brazier in Nyxara’s Main Chamber.
- Generate Astral Flame at the Nexus Forge.
- Ignite the Ancient Scroll’s brazier.
- Lead the red-mist zombie to Veytharion Passage.
- Sacrifice it using the Titan Trap.
- Reveal the hidden dial by going prone on the stone plate.
- Raise the dial using a charged Warden’s Blight shot.
- Aim its laser low on the southern wall.
- Kill zombies beneath the dial to charge the beam.
- Shoot the revealed stone head.
- Kill all four Shadow Souls.
- Destroy the stone statue until the screen flashes white.
- Position a purple orb beneath Nyxara’s dragon head.
- Hit it with charged Warden’s Blight.
- Trigger rain using the blue well if necessary.
- Collect an Astral Flame and grapple to a good throwing position.
- Hit Nyxara’s forehead with the Astral Flame.
The resulting lightning strike cleanses Nyxara’s Sanctuary, completing this section of the Rex Infernus main quest.
