Black Ops 7 Weekly Challenges Confirmed for Season 1

Black Ops 7 is shaping up to be much bigger than its predecessor, with Treyarch taking direct lessons from the missteps of Black Ops 6. New reports from Charlie Intel suggest that one of the biggest changes will come in the form of a revamped weekly challenge system, something players felt was sorely missing last year.

Black Ops 6 Issues and What Went Wrong

At launch, Black Ops 6 had solid gameplay but quickly lost steam after Season 1 began. The lack of weekly challenges left the game feeling empty and repetitive. While Modern Warfare 3 introduced consistent weekly content, Treyarch admitted they simply didn’t have time to add it mid-development for Black Ops 6. With the studio working on back-to-back games, features that could have boosted engagement were left out. The result was a disappointing post-launch cycle that many felt failed to live up to expectations.

Black Ops 7 Weekly Challenges and Rewards

This year, Treyarch is correcting course in a major way. Season 1 of Black Ops 7 will run for nine weeks and feature weekly challenges across multiplayer, zombies, Warzone, and even Endgame. Players will need to complete six challenges per week, with flexibility in choosing which modes to play.

The rewards are more ambitious than in MW3, including:

  • Two brand-new weapons

  • New streaks and attachments

  • Multiple blueprints

  • Two universal camos spread across the season

Combined with the base battle pass and mid-season updates, this could mean up to six new weapons in the first season alone. If Treyarch can maintain this pace in future seasons, Black Ops 7 may deliver the consistent content cycle that fans wanted all along.

Treyarch’s Focus on Identity and Cosmetics

Another area Treyarch is addressing is the game’s visual identity. In Black Ops 6, cosmetics like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Beavis and Butt-Head felt out of place, raising questions about Call of Duty’s direction. For Black Ops 7, Treyarch has stated they want to keep skins and cosmetics grounded in the Black Ops identity, while still allowing some futuristic flair. How closely they stick to this promise will become clear when the in-game store rolls out during Season 1 and beyond.

New Rumors and Community Hopes

Alongside the confirmed updates, rumors point to the return of the parkour-inspired “Get High” mode from Modern Warfare 3 as a limited-time event. With Black Ops 7’s expanded movement system featuring wall jumps and omnidirectional mechanics, this mode could feel more dynamic than ever. While it’s not part of the core gameplay, fans are hopeful it will return as a fun event with exclusive rewards like camos and blueprints.

Black Ops 7 weekly challenges and Treyarch’s renewed focus on identity may help the series recover from Black Ops 6’s shaky reception. If they can maintain consistency across seasons, this could be the year Call of Duty reclaims its rhythm.
