All Freerun Descent Event Rewards in COD Black Ops 7

The Freerun Descent Leaderboard Event is live in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, challenging players to post their fastest course times for a chance to earn exclusive cosmetic rewards. The event began September 3 at 10 AM PT and runs for one week, with rewards including two weapon camos, several Calling Cards, a Weapon Charm, and the Vibrant Aurora Peacekeeper MK1 Blueprint.

Unlike XP-based events, Freerun Descent is all about leaderboard placement. The better your final ranking, the more rewards you can earn before the event ends.

All Black Ops 7 Freerun Descent Event Rewards

There are nine rewards available through the Freerun Descent Challenge Event. Each one is tied to reaching a specific leaderboard position.

Reward Type Requirement
Sprint for the Finish Animated Calling Card Place 1st
Polaris Weapon Camo Place 1st
Count to Five Calling Card Place Top 5
Obelisk Weapon Charm Place Top 5
Take Ten Calling Card Place Top 10
Bullseye Weapon Camo Place Top 10
No Tripping Loading Screen Place Top 15
Free Run For All Calling Card Place Top 15
Vibrant Aurora Peacekeeper MK1 Blueprint Place Top 30

The Vibrant Aurora Peacekeeper MK1 Blueprint has the most forgiving requirement, as you only need to finish within the Top 30.

The most difficult rewards are Sprint for the Finish and the Polaris Weapon Camo, both of which require taking first place on the leaderboard.

How to Complete the Freerun Descent Event

To climb the leaderboard, you need to complete the Freerun Descent course as quickly as possible.

Pure speed isn’t the only thing that matters. Mistakes can add faults and cost valuable time, so a clean run will often be better than an overly aggressive attempt filled with missed jumps.

The basic strategy is to learn the standard route first and then gradually introduce shortcuts as you become comfortable with each section.

Best Freerun Descent Shortcuts

Finding ways to bypass parts of the intended route is one of the biggest opportunities to improve your time.

Grapple sections offer some of the easiest shortcuts. Instead of always following the course’s obvious path, look for surfaces that allow you to grapple, swing, and land farther ahead.

This can let you bypass entire portions of certain obstacles.

You should also experiment with movement techniques that reduce the number of individual jumps needed to reach the next checkpoint. Useful approaches include:

  • Grappling past sections of the intended route
  • Swinging directly toward later platforms
  • Skipping unnecessary jumps
  • Wall-jumping toward the opposite side of an obstacle
  • Bypassing lanes when a more direct route is possible

The fastest path isn’t necessarily the one the course visually encourages you to take.

Avoid Faults While Chasing a Faster Time

Shortcuts only help when you can execute them consistently.

Trying to shave a small amount of time off one obstacle isn’t worthwhile if the shortcut regularly causes a missed jump or other fault. Multiple mistakes can quickly erase the advantage gained from taking a more aggressive route.

Instead, work on your time progressively. Complete several clean runs, identify the sections costing you the most time, and then practice shortcuts for those specific areas.

Once you can perform a shortcut consistently, incorporate it into your full leaderboard attempt.

This approach is especially important if you’re targeting first place rather than simply trying to finish inside the Top 30.

When Does the Freerun Descent Event End?

The Black Ops 7 Freerun Descent Event lasts for seven days:

Start: September 3 at 10 AM PT
End: September 10 at 10 AM PT

That gives players one week to improve their course time and secure the leaderboard placement required for their desired rewards.

All nine rewards are event-exclusive cosmetics, so they won’t remain available to unlock after Freerun Descent ends. Players primarily interested in the Vibrant Aurora Peacekeeper MK1 Blueprint only need to target a Top 30 finish, while collecting everything requires reaching first place before the September 10 deadline.
