The Flare Gun is one of the most useful exploration tools in Big Walk, particularly when playing with friends. Firing one creates a bright signal that can be spotted from a distance, making it much easier to show teammates where you are. Flares can also provide some much-needed visibility while exploring after dark.
There are three Flare Guns hidden around the island, with each location offering a different flare color. They’re easy to overlook because all three are concealed inside chambers that you need to drop into.
All Flare Gun Locations in Big Walk
Big Walk has three known Flare Gun locations. The guns function similarly, so you can simply collect whichever color you prefer or visit all three locations.

Once you’ve reached the appropriate chamber, getting the Flare Gun itself is easy. Jump through the hole and drop into the area below. You’ll find the gun sitting on the ground, ready to be picked up.
Where to Find the Red Flare Gun
The Red Flare Gun is inside the yellow hole chamber.
Travel toward the highest point on the Big Walk map and then look directly north of it. Find the yellow structure with an opening and jump down into the chamber.
The Red Flare Gun is waiting at the bottom.
This is a convenient option if your current exploration route already takes you through the central high-elevation areas of the island.
Where to Find the Green Flare Gun
The Green Flare Gun is located in another chamber relatively close to the Red Flare Gun.
From the general area of the highest point, travel farther north and slightly west. You’re looking for a smaller brown hole chamber.
Jump through the opening and collect the Green Flare Gun from inside.
Since the Red and Green variants aren’t especially far apart, it’s possible to collect both during the same exploration trip.
Where to Find the Yellow Flare Gun
The Yellow Flare Gun requires a little more traveling.
Head toward the far western section of the island and locate the red drawbridge. The purple hole chamber containing the Yellow Flare Gun is directly north of the drawbridge, but it’s positioned on elevated terrain.
Because of the height difference, you may not be able to simply walk straight toward it from the drawbridge. Instead, circle around the terrain until you find a route onto the hill.
Once you reach the purple chamber, drop through its opening and pick up the Yellow Flare Gun below.
How to Use the Flare Gun in Big Walk
After collecting a Flare Gun, you can fire it into the air to create a bright signal.
Its primary purpose is communication with teammates. Big Walk’s island is large enough that groups can easily become separated while exploring or solving different puzzles. Instead of trying to describe your exact location, fire a flare and have your friends look toward the sky.
The effect is similar to the larger flare stations found around the island and on certain towers, except you’re able to carry the Flare Gun with you.
Flares are also particularly useful at night because their light makes them easier for distant teammates to notice.
Is the Flare Gun Worth Carrying?
The Flare Gun is especially valuable for larger co-op groups that frequently split up.
It doesn’t replace Big Walk’s other navigation tools, but it offers a very quick way to communicate a position without relying entirely on landmarks or complicated directions.
You can also attach the Flare Gun to a teammate’s backpack or belt, freeing up someone’s hands while your group travels between objectives.
If you want one as early as possible, choose whichever of the three chambers is closest to your current route. The Red, Green, and Yellow Flare Guns all provide the same basic utility, with their different colors letting you pick the signal that works best for your group.
