Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 introduced the Storm Beast Pom Poms as its main melee weapon. Unlike the Typhoon Blade or Kneecapper Bat, this item transforms the player into a visible beast form equipped with claws. There’s no stealth involved—players either activate the Pom Poms or they don’t, making it easier to react. Once transformed, the beast has 600 HP, and players must deal that much damage to destroy its durability.
Fortunately, several current items make countering it manageable. The Spire AR, with its large magazine and reliable damage, can burn through that 600 HP quickly. Players who attempt to tank the beast head-on will likely lose. But those who use cover, reposition often, and chip away at its health will gain the upper hand. Prioritize survival over aggression, and time your damage windows carefully—especially in mid to late game.
Best Loadout to Fight the Storm Beast
Mobility plays a huge role in surviving against Pom Poms. The Base Boost Gloves—especially the mythic variant with four charges—work perfectly here. Use two boosts to escape, turn and shoot, then repeat. With solid hip-fire from the Spire AR and a consistent rotation pattern, you can avoid damage while dealing it back.

The Robin Grappler and Dash Sprite also serve as excellent mobility tools. Anything that helps you avoid melee range will increase your chances of surviving these encounters. With the mythic gloves now available in A and S-tier Hero Crates, reaching those tiers early becomes a key priority. Better gloves give you more options, not just against Pom Poms, but across all fights.
Another solid pick is the Core Medallion. With its sprint jump buff and recent fixes to sprint regeneration, it offers even more ways to avoid Storm Beast damage. Cars offer temporary escape options too, although players are not invulnerable inside them.
Weapons That Outclass the Pom Poms
Kill Switch Revolvers provide a strong counter to the Pom Poms due to their air slow effect. This lets players float mid-air while dealing consistent damage. Since Pom Poms have no ranged attack, they can’t retaliate during this. If you’re comfortable using these revolvers and pair them with the boon that reloads after parkour, you can keep pressure on without pause.
Storm Beasts cannot swap to guns without fully exiting beast form. That locked-in limitation gives you a window of opportunity. If you break the beast and the player drops to white health, follow up with a quick burst to eliminate them. Always keep your weapon reloaded and aim to catch them off guard during their post-transformation animation.
Team Strategies and Positioning Tips
In team modes, the Pom Poms become a lot easier to manage. Four players can delete 600 HP quickly, especially if everyone coordinates. Focus on the gun-wielding teammate first while keeping an eye on the beast. Use mobility to isolate one or both. The player using Pom Poms cannot shoot or build in beast form, which leaves them vulnerable if separated.
If the situation becomes risky, don’t hesitate to disengage. The Storm Beast does not regenerate HP, so you can leave and return to fight later. Most complaints center around endgame fights, but in reality, a solo Pom Poms user is an easy final opponent if you manage your cooldowns and weapons wisely.
Track the damage you deal to the beast during fights. When you’re close to the 600 HP threshold, make sure you’re reloaded and ready. The transformation back to human form often leaves the user disoriented or exposed, and that’s your best chance to finish the fight cleanly.
