Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 NPCs work differently this season, shifting the focus onto free-to-hire specialists instead of expensive gold-based vendors. With OXR shops filling in for high-tier loot sellers, knowing which NPCs are worth your time can give a solid advantage during matches.
Free Specialists and OXR Shop Changes
This season changes how NPCs work in Fortnite. Instead of paying gold, you free specialists from orange pods and instantly hire them at no cost. Meanwhile, OXR shops replace many former weapon-sellers, making specialists more valuable for passive benefits rather than direct gear sales.
Four specialists return this season: Peely, Cuddle Team Leader, Triggerfish, and Meowscles—each with different perks. Plus, there’s a temporary vendor, Champion Surf Witch, linked to FNCS events.
Peely Supply Specialist – Shock Wave Support
Peely, the supply specialist, is found where Pumped Power used to be. After freeing him, Peely periodically drops ammo, utility items, and shock waves if you’re holding them during resupply.
With shock waves being a primary mobility tool, Peely can be extremely useful. However, the addition of the shockwave hammer reduces dependency on him since the hammer provides renewable mobility. Still, for players who dislike the hammer, Peely remains one of the most reliable NPCs to hire.
Triggerfish Scout Specialist – Best NPC This Season
Triggerfish, the scout specialist, is found near the mid-map gas station in the bug area. Once hired, he scans and marks nearby enemies—like having a free portable flare gun without using inventory space.
This constant intel makes Triggerfish arguably the most valuable NPC in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4. His location also makes him easy to pick up mid-rotation without detouring from popular landing paths.
Cuddle Team Leader and Meowscles – Situational Picks
Cuddle Team Leader acts as the medic specialist, found west of The Hive. She periodically heals you, letting you conserve items like Fizz for mobility or fights. However, recent tests suggest she sometimes heals less than previous seasons, making her slightly less consistent.
Meowscles, the heavy specialist north of Rers Ruin, throws grenades during combat but rarely lands effective hits. Worse, his dropped grenades upon elimination can destroy your cover or damage you, putting him at the bottom of the priority list.
Champion Surf Witch – FNCS Vendor at Shogun Solitude
The Champion Surf Witch isn’t a specialist but sells shock waves at Shogun Solitude. While valuable in previous seasons, she’s less critical now thanks to the shockwave hammer being in the loot pool. Her presence also appears temporary, tied to the ongoing FNCS global finals.
