UbiSoft is in grave danger. Their most anticipated game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed due to unforeseen and unmeasurable events, not long after they’ve plummeted their stock market and after massive downfall with the game Star Wars Outlaw. Coming in as another entry for their surprising series of unfortunate events, Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed.
Why Assassin’s Creed Shadows is Delayed
The pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is still available on UbiSoft’s website but the game’s global launch has been moved, from November 12, 2024 to February 14 2025. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will become the very first Japan-based sequel in the series.
The executive producer Marc-Alexis Cote said that they need more time to polish and develop the game, thus, the delay of the release.
Fans express their disbelief
It was expected for fans to be disappointed because of this delay. But most of the complaints were because of claims that UbiSoft is being “racist”.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the first-ever Japanese-based game of the series, and Yasuke who is the only African and first non-Japanese samurai is one of the main characters of the game. Though Yasuke is one of the legends in Japan, the players have been complaining because of this said “change” and why this sequel of the series is called “shadows” claiming that UbiSoft is being racist.
Company’s plan moving forward
Another statement coming from Cote, is that what happened to them from the Star Wars Outlaw release has been a lesson learned and they shall never look back to it again, leading them for further polishing of their titles, to which they are delaying the release for the new sequel to achieve and deliver a wisely developed game.
According to Ubisoft, “softer than planned” game sales were reported in its latest update. Furthermore, it appears that this is because of a polish issue.
Mr. Cote stated that the company will compensate gamers who placed pre-orders. In addition to providing an extra expansion to those who continued their pre-order for their updated launch.
Fans Left Waiting as UbiSoft pulls Assassin’s Creed Shadows from Shelves
It is common for game developers to face such a crisis. Especially to those who have a franchise, as they’ve already established a reputation.
The developers, UbiSoft, have encountered these massive unfortunate series of events. As they’ve stated solutions or other remedies to solve the issues, players are forced to wait for a little longer. For other technical issues, it is believed that fans will have a much better game in the following year.
