Respawn just dropped the Overclocked patch notes for Season 29, and the battle royale meta is taking a massive turn. Between a brand new skirmisher named Axle and completely reworked healing mechanics, the way you take fights and rotate across the map is entirely different right now.

If you grind ranked or rely on the Hemlok for mid-range knocks, you have to adapt fast. The developers are forcing players to rethink their survival strategies by adding deathbox respawns and stripping free rotation tools from Olympus and Broken Moon.

We are breaking down the exact changes to the legend roster, how the new chain healing system actually works, and which weapons you need to drop right away to keep your RP climbing.
Stop manually healing during third parties
The new Chain Healing system removes the massive headache of popping multiple shield cells in the middle of a chaotic fight. You can now queue up your next healing item while the current one is still casting. If you set the system to Auto in your settings, the game will continuously use your selected healing item until your health or shields are completely full. This buys you precious split seconds to focus on positioning instead of staring at your inventory wheel.
Respawn also added a highly requested feature: Deathbox Respawns. You can now revive fallen teammates directly at their deathbox. The cast takes a risky seven seconds, but your teammate gets all their unlooted gear back instantly. To stop teams from abusing this in late rings, a lockout timer increases every single time you die. It is a loud, visible process, but it beats running halfway across the map to a beacon with no loot.
Axle brings terrifying speed to the skirmisher meta
Axle joins the roster as a hyper-mobile skirmisher, and her kit is built for aggressive entry fragging. Her Drift passive lets her accelerate faster than anyone else while sliding. Combine that with her Nitro Gate tactical, which gives both teammates and enemies a massive boosted slide for five seconds, and you have a character that can cross open ground in a blink. Her Kickstart ultimate launches a tracking drone that knocks enemies up into the air, completely breaking their line of sight and cover.
Other legends caught heavy adjustments too. Vantage received a massive buff. Her tactical double jump range increased from four meters to seven, and her ultimate now has a toggleable 2x sight for close-range aggressive plays. Alter took a heavy hit. Her tactical cooldown jumped to 25 seconds, and her ultimate range was slashed from 300m to 250m. If you play Alter, you can no longer rely on her portal as a free escape without serious pre-planning.
The Hemlok is dead and the L-STAR is terrifying
If you loved the Hemlok Breach AR, it is time to find a new primary. The breach charge cooldown jumped from 15 to 25 seconds. It does disperse gas and smoke now, but the heavy cooldown makes it a massive liability in prolonged fights. Meanwhile, the L-STAR is rotating into the Care Package. It gained a flat damage buff and a new Redline hop-up that increases projectile size the closer the gun gets to overheating.
Your map rotations are also going to feel much slower. Tridents are completely gone from Olympus and Storm Point. On Broken Moon, most point-to-point ziprails were removed, replaced by just two new rotation options near Stasis Array and Terraformer.
If you play a mobility legend like Pathfinder or Valkyrie, your pick rate value just skyrocketed. Your team will need your ultimate to cross wide open spaces on Broken Moon and Olympus. For loadouts, drop the Hemlok and start getting comfortable with the C.A.R. SMG, which is back as floor loot with larger magazine sizes.
