Bloodhound has received a major rework in Apex Legends Season 30: Marked, changing virtually every part of the Legend’s kit. Respawn has redesigned the Passive and Tactical while replacing Bloodhound’s previous Ultimate with an entirely new ability called Allfather’s Cloak.
The result is a very different Bloodhound. Rather than simply scanning opponents before a fight, the reworked Legend can hunt squads through persistent trails, repeatedly track movement with Eye of the Allfather, and cloak an entire team to set up pushes, rotations, or escapes.
What Changed With Bloodhound in Season 30?
Respawn’s reason for revisiting Bloodhound was straightforward. According to the developer, Bloodhound had become the least-picked Legend among players ranked Gold and above, and the adjustments introduced in Season 28 weren’t enough to turn that around.
Season 30 consequently delivers a much broader overhaul.
Bloodhound now has:
- Tracker Trails for following enemy movement
- An improved Eye of the Allfather Tactical
- Expanded White Raven functionality
- A completely new Ultimate, Allfather’s Cloak
- Three new upgrades that specialize the kit for scouting or aggressive play
These changes turn Bloodhound into more of an active hunter who can locate a squad, track its movement, and then create an opportunity for the team to engage.
New Passive: How Tracker Trails Work
Bloodhound’s reworked Passive creates visible trails behind enemies as they move through the environment.
Instead of relying primarily on individual clues showing actions an enemy previously performed, you can now follow the path they took. This makes it much easier to pursue players who have already moved out of sight.
White Ravens have received a substantial improvement as well.
Their range has increased from 190 meters to as much as 400 meters, and Bloodhound can activate a Raven remotely simply by looking at it for a short period.
Combined with Tracker Trails, this makes Bloodhound particularly effective at finding squads that recently rotated away from an area.
Eye of the Allfather Tactical Changes
Eye of the Allfather remains Bloodhound’s Tactical, but the information it provides has been significantly expanded.
The initial scan completely reveals detected enemies for three seconds. Once that reveal ends, Bloodhound receives four additional snapshot scans at 1.5-second intervals.
Instead of getting one burst of information and immediately losing track of the target, you can therefore continue receiving updates on their position.
This is particularly valuable when opponents are moving between rooms or attempting to reposition behind cover. You can use the initial reveal to identify their position and the subsequent snapshots to anticipate where they’re heading.
There is one important White Raven interaction to remember. Scanning a Raven without detecting enemies still fully refunds the Tactical cooldown. However, you no longer receive the previous partial cooldown refund when the same scan detects both an enemy and a Raven.
Allfather’s Cloak: Bloodhound’s New Ultimate Explained
The biggest change to Bloodhound in Apex Legends Season 30 is Allfather’s Cloak, which completely replaces the old Ultimate.
Activating it throws a device that generates a cloaking field. The field remains active for eight seconds, and players who enter it receive the cloak effect.
While cloaked, you gain:
- 20% increased movement speed
- Threat Vision
- Significantly reduced visibility
After leaving the field, the cloak remains active for another 12 seconds.
There is a major catch: Allfather’s Cloak works on everyone who enters the field.
That includes Bloodhound, teammates, and enemies.
Poor Ultimate placement can therefore give an opposing squad exactly the same advantages you’re trying to create for your own team.
Does Allfather’s Cloak Make You Invisible?
No. Allfather’s Cloak makes characters substantially harder to see, but it doesn’t provide complete invisibility.
Cloaked players still produce a faint blue shimmer, giving observant enemies an opportunity to spot them. Nearby opponents can also receive an audio warning.
The cloak additionally breaks when a player:
- Takes damage
- Fires a weapon
- Uses most abilities
Bloodhound has an important exception to that final rule. Bloodhound’s own abilities can be used without breaking the cloak, making it possible to continue scanning while concealed.
Allfather’s Cloak is therefore better used for approaching enemies, repositioning, or escaping than as a straightforward invisibility button.
Best Bloodhound Upgrades in Season 30
Bloodhound’s rework introduces three important upgrades: Hidden Sight, Bird’s Eye, and True Predator. Which one you should prioritize depends on the role you want Bloodhound to perform.
Hidden Sight
Hidden Sight refreshes Eye of the Allfather after Bloodhound activates the Ultimate.
Even better, Tactical scans performed while Bloodhound is cloaked don’t display the normal visual scan effect to enemies.
This makes Hidden Sight particularly useful for scouting. You can enter Allfather’s Cloak, scan the area without broadcasting the scan as clearly to opponents, and use that information to prepare your team’s attack.
Bird’s Eye
Bird’s Eye improves White Ravens by allowing them to split up and travel toward the two nearest enemies belonging to different squads.
That can be extremely valuable in Ranked, where knowing that another team is nearby can determine whether you commit to a fight or avoid becoming trapped between multiple squads.
True Predator
True Predator is designed for a more aggressive Bloodhound playstyle.
Normally, firing your weapon breaks Allfather’s Cloak. With True Predator, firing only temporarily interrupts the cloak, allowing Bloodhound to become concealed again afterward.
This creates opportunities to attack, reposition under cloak, and then re-engage from another angle.
As a general rule, choose Hidden Sight for scouting and information, Bird’s Eye for locating multiple nearby squads, and True Predator for aggressive fighting and repeated repositioning.
How to Play Bloodhound After the Rework
The most important adjustment is to stop treating Bloodhound as a Legend whose entire job is pressing Scan immediately before a gunfight.
The Season 30 version is built around a longer hunting process.
Track Before You Attack
Use Tracker Trails and White Ravens to find your target before committing to an engagement.
Once you’ve located the squad, use Eye of the Allfather to reveal its position. Don’t immediately forget about the Tactical after the first scan—the four follow-up snapshots can tell you where enemies are trying to reposition.
Your team can then decide how to approach based on that information.
Use Allfather’s Cloak to Start a Push
When your squad is ready to engage, place Allfather’s Cloak along your intended approach rather than automatically throwing it directly onto the enemy.
Your teammates can pass through the field, receive the movement bonus and concealment, and then approach the fight from a more favorable position.
Because the cloak persists for 12 seconds after leaving the field, you don’t need to keep fighting inside the Ultimate’s original area.
Use the Ultimate for Rotations
Allfather’s Cloak isn’t exclusively a combat ability.
The 20% movement-speed increase combined with its lingering cloak makes it useful when your squad needs to cross exposed terrain or quickly move between pieces of cover.
This flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of the new Bloodhound. The Ultimate can help initiate a fight, but you don’t have to hold it exclusively for combat.
Save Allfather’s Cloak for an Escape
The same mechanics that make the Ultimate useful for pushing also make it an effective disengagement tool.
If your squad starts losing a fight, deploy the field somewhere your teammates can quickly pass through and change direction once you’re cloaked.
Enemies can still hear the warning and potentially spot the blue shimmer, so this isn’t a guaranteed escape. However, the combination of increased movement speed and reduced visibility can make tracking a retreating squad significantly harder.
Don’t Cloak the Enemy Team
Ultimate placement is arguably the most important skill to learn with reworked Bloodhound.
Because enemies can benefit from Allfather’s Cloak, throwing the device directly into the middle of an opposing squad can backfire badly.
You could unintentionally give them:
- Increased movement speed
- Threat Vision
- Concealment
Instead, consider which team controls the field you’re creating. Placing it behind cover or along your squad’s approach can let your teammates collect the buff without making it equally convenient for enemies.
How to Counter Allfather’s Cloak
Allfather’s Cloak is powerful, but there are several ways to play against it.
Listen for its audio warning and watch for the faint blue distortion around cloaked characters. Concealed players aren’t completely invisible, so tracking movement is still possible.
Dealing damage immediately breaks the standard cloak, making area pressure particularly useful when you suspect someone is moving nearby.
Firing a weapon also reveals cloaked players unless Bloodhound has the appropriate upgrade, while most ability usage breaks the effect as well.
Most importantly, don’t assume a cloaked Bloodhound is untouchable. Forcing them to fight can remove the concealment advantage and turn the engagement back into a conventional gunfight.
Is Bloodhound Better in Apex Legends Season 30?
Bloodhound’s Season 30 rework gives the Legend considerably more tactical flexibility.
Tracker Trails make pursuing enemies more intuitive, the revamped Eye of the Allfather provides information over a longer period, and Allfather’s Cloak introduces options Bloodhound previously didn’t have for team pushes, rotations, and disengagements.
The Ultimate also creates a meaningful risk because opponents can use the same field. Good Bloodhound players will therefore need to think about positioning instead of simply activating their Ultimate whenever a fight begins.
For aggressive squads, the new gameplay loop is straightforward: find the enemy, track their movement, scan their position, cloak the approach, and strike from the best available angle. Master that sequence, and Bloodhound becomes much more than the team’s Scan button.
