Freezer is one of the most distinctive Secret units in Anime Squadron, inspired by the iconic Dragon Ball villain. Unlike most high-rarity characters that focus solely on dealing damage, Freezer excels at crowd control through his unique Torment mechanic, allowing him to convert defeated enemies into temporary allies.
This guide explains how to unlock Freezer, evolve him into Golden Freezer, and make the most of his powerful passive abilities.
How to Unlock Freezer
Freezer is earned through gameplay rather than the summon banner, making him a guaranteed long-term reward for dedicated players.
To obtain him, you’ll need to complete Chapter 4 of the Ice Continent Squadron. The unit can drop on both available difficulties, although Hard Mode offers a better chance.
| Difficulty | Drop Rate | Pity Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 0.5% | 200 clears |
| Hard | 1% | 100 clears |
Even if luck isn’t on your side, the pity system guarantees you’ll eventually unlock Freezer after enough successful runs. There’s also a chance to obtain a Shiny version before reaching the pity threshold.
How to Evolve Freezer into Golden Freezer
After unlocking the base unit, you can upgrade him through the Awakening menu to gain stronger abilities and exclusive passive effects.
Evolution Materials
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Capsule | 200 |
| Ki Crystal | 100 |
| Divine Ember | 75 |
| Zenith Stone | 50 |
| Galaxy Shard | 30 |
| Spirit Quartz | 15 |
| Freezer’s Ship | 1 |
| Gold | 7,500 |
Once you’ve collected every required item, open the Awakening menu, select Freezer, and complete the evolution to obtain Golden Freezer.
Golden Freezer Passive Abilities
Golden Freezer’s kit centers around the Torment mechanic, giving him tools that become stronger during longer battles.
Torment
Instead of simply defeating normal enemies, Golden Freezer converts them into Tormented allies.
Tormented enemies:
- Fight alongside your team
- Gain health equal to Freezer’s damage stat
- Attack using 15% of his damage
- Are limited to four active summons at once
If Freezer is defeated, every Tormented ally immediately disappears.
Torment also grants a powerful survival effect. If Freezer falls while at least three Tormented enemies remain active, he revives once with 25% HP and permanently gains a 30% damage increase.
Planet Destroyer
This passive activates whenever four Tormented enemies are active simultaneously.
Golden Freezer creates a Death Zone that lasts for five seconds. Enemies standing inside the area:
- Continuously take damage equal to 200% over time
- Receive the Concussion debuff, reducing Accuracy by 25%
The Death Zone also affects allies. Friendly units caught inside—except for Golden Freezer and Tormented enemies—take minor damage and suffer the same Accuracy reduction.
Absolute Destruction
Whenever a Tormented enemy is defeated, it explodes before disappearing.
Each explosion:
- Deals damage equal to 100% of Freezer’s damage to nearby enemies
- Stuns affected normal enemies for two seconds
During large enemy waves, these explosions can chain together, providing both area damage and valuable crowd control.
Is Freezer Worth Using?
Golden Freezer stands out from most Secret units because of his emphasis on battlefield control rather than raw damage. His ability to recruit defeated enemies, create damaging zones, and trigger explosive chain reactions makes him especially effective in extended stages where enemy numbers continue to grow.
Players looking for a unique support-damage hybrid will find Golden Freezer to be an excellent addition to late-game teams, particularly when his Torment mechanic has time to build momentum throughout a match.
