Fortnite season 4 has a lot of new updates and content to explore. While it isn’t perfect and some elements may be annoying, that’s just how Fortnite goes. However, among all the Chapter 5 season launches, this is probably one of the best so far.
New and Vaulted Weapons
The latest update has vaulted numerous weapons and items, including the Thunderburst SMG, Huntress DMR, Enforcer, Combat Shotgun, Nuka Cola Laser Rifle, EMP Grenades, Tow Hook Car Mods, Heavy Impact Sniper, Hand Cannon, Magneto Gloves, Nitro Fists, Harbinger SMG, Boom Bolt Crossbow, and all of Season 3’s medallions. Additionally, the Crash Pad Jr. and MedM have also been vaulted.
Notably, Nitro Fists, Magneto Gauntlets, and Thunderburst SMG being vaulted significantly change the game. While Nitro Rings still exist on the map, they no longer provide Nitro after passing through them.
Several items from past Fortnite seasons have been unvaulted, including the Striker AR, Hyper SMG, Chug Splash, and FlowBerry Fizz. These are now available in the loot pool again.
New Items Introduced in Fortnite Season 4
- Sovereign Shotgun: This unique shotgun offers two fire rates depending on whether you’re aiming or hip firing. Hip firing results in faster shots but with wider spread and less accuracy. Aiming down sights grants a tighter pellet spread and more consistent damage, though with slower fire rates.
- Striker Burst AR: A revamped version from Chapter 3, this AR now supports attachments and functions as a projectile weapon with bullet drop and travel time. It also shoots faster than before, making it a solid choice in this Fortnite Season 4’s loot pool.
- Dual SMGs: A high fire-rate weapon effective in close-range combat but lacking in medium-range effectiveness. These can only be hip fired, making them situational and potentially tricky to incorporate into loadouts.
- Monarch Pistol: A slower firing, hard-hitting pistol with similarities to the Hand Cannon. Although powerful, it didn’t receive much attention during testing.
- Captain America Shield: Functions similarly to Darth Vader’s throwable lightsaber. It deals 60 damage per hit and can ricochet off surfaces. The shield can also be used to block attacks and perform a shield bash while sprinting.
Returning Items
Several classic items have returned, including the Combat AR, Gatekeeper Shotgun, Ranger Pistol, Shockwave Grenades, Shield Bubbles, and Bunkers. Heals like Mini Shields, Big Pot, Flow Berry Fizz, Medkits, and Bandages are also back.
The Shield Bubbles, in particular, provide crucial protection against some of the more frustrating items like Dr. Doom’s energy ball, Arsenal Rockets, and the Captain America shield.
New Points of Interest (POIs) and Bosses
- Doom Stat: Replaces Lavish Layer. The Mysterio boss here drops a Medallion that grants invisibility while crouched, along with a Mythic Sovereign Shotgun featuring a Red Dot sight.
- Doom Castle: Located at the top right of the map. The Dr. Doom boss here drops a Medallion granting siphon on elimination and a Mythic Monarch Pistol.
- Doom’s Courtyard: Replaces Classy Courts.
- The Raft: Replaces Pleasant Piaza. Emma Frost can be found here, dropping a Mythic Striker Burst AR and a Medallion that emits radar pulses marking nearby enemies.
