Abiotic Factor launches July 22 on PS5. Drawing inspiration from Half-Life, it’s a multiplayer survival game set in a lab crawling with anomalies and aliens. Craft weapons, furniture, and traps as you explore solo or with five other players. With a 96% rating on Steam and over 23,000 reviews, it’s a promising co-op experience.
Next is Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, coming July 15. This PS5-exclusive RPG stars a couple torn between love and duty. One becomes a ghost early on, and moral choices shape the rest of the story. The last major RPG is New World: Aeternum, an MMO that debuted on PC and now hits PS5. You start as a shipwrecked survivor and progress by scavenging, crafting, and building settlements. Planet Zoo: Console Edition finally arrives on PS5, offering four game modes including sandbox and franchise. Manage animal habitats and run the perfect wildlife park. It takes about 100 hours to platinum and holds an 81/100 rating.
Tropico 6 lands on both PS4 and PS5. Take on the role of dictator and build your nation while deciding whether to keep your citizens happy—or controlled. It’s a construction sim with political layers and a solid 7/10 rating.
Risk of Rain 2 also returns, a roguelike third-person shooter with deep build variety. Play solo or with up to three friends, facing escalating enemy waves. Its random upgrades lead to wild power spikes, making each run unique. With user reviews averaging 85/100, it’s a replayable gem that takes between 20 to 150 hours to master.
Classics and Departures: Twisted Metal Returns, Dying Light Leaves (PlayStation Plus July)
Twisted Metal 3 and 4 are the Premium tier’s retro additions this month. Originally on PS1, these vehicular combat titles are now enhanced with rewind support. Battle your way through demolition arenas to earn a wish from Calypso—or take him down in the sequel.
