5 Ways To Counter Jeff the Landshark’s Ult in Marvel Rivals

It’s Jeff! Who would have thought that the adorable Jeff the Landshark in Marvel Rivals would be one of the most terrifying heroes to face? The terror stems from his ultimate ability, which can swallow enemies and even his teammates whole. Players have had trouble battling against Jeff the Landshark, but here’s some ways on how you can counter this cuddly-but-deadly apex predator.

Using Shields

Some Marvel Rivals heroes have shields that can make them immune to attacks and crowd control, including Jeff’s nightmarish ultimate. For example, The Incredible Hulk’s Incredible Shield ability can completely block Jeff’s ult from swallowing him and his nearby allies.

Magneto also has Metallic Curtain to resist incoming damage, and Namor’s Blessing of the Deep lets him float in the air on top of giving him a shield. For Doctor Strange, Shield of Seraphim offers great protection, while Groot’s walls can make him untargetable due to blocking line of sight.

Dashing Out of Jeff’s Circle

Any hero near the edge of Jeff’s ult area may be able to escape if they can step out in time. Some heroes, however, have reliable mobility that allows them to dash out even from the middle of Jeff’s pool with ease.

Heroes like Captain America, Iron Fist, Psylocke, and Star-Lord all excel at this. Captain America, especially, has his Leading Dash ability which grants him 33% movement speed. Iron Fist can dash forward with K’un-Lun Kick, Star-Lord can escape with Stellar Shift, while the Psi-Blade Dash ability of Psylocke is a great evasion tool.

Wolverine and Black Panther are also already very agile and can effortlessly dash away. Meanwhile some heroes with slow movement speed like Hawkeye, Thor, Winter Soldier, and Black Widow still have some mobility skills to help them dash or step away with the right timing.

Flying Away or Staying Airborne

The easiest way to counter Jeff the Landshark is to make sure that his ult couldn’t reach you in the first place. How do you do that? You simply fly, or stay in the air.

Blessed are the heroes capable of flight or levitation, even if only temporarily like Hela’s transformation into a Nostrond Crow through Astral Flock. Timing Squirrel Girl’s jump will also let her avoid being caught. You can stay untouchable throughout the duration of Jeff’s ult and just land when it’s over.

Doctor Strange with Cloak of Levitation, Scarlet Witch with Mystic Projection, and Storm and Iron Man’s built-in capabilities to stay airborne all make them untargetable by Jeff’s It’s Jeff! ult.

Other Mobility Abilities

Beside dashing and flying, you can also counter Jeff the Landshark with flashier escapes. Spider-Man, for example, can always swing out of the It’s Jeff! area, while Rocket Raccoon and Venom can even climb walls.

Peni Parker’s Cybernetic Web Strands and Moon Knight’s hook can be used to “fly away”, while Magik can rely on her Stepping Discs to teleport easily.

Counter Abilities and UltimatesWhen you’re caught in the middle of Jeff’s ult and can’t dash away, some heroes can avoid becoming shark food when they layer their own abilities on top of Jeff’s ultimate. Without any worries, Luna Snow can cast Fate of Both Worlds just upon hearing the signature “Nom Nom Nom!” that players will hear before Jeff ults. The long duration of her ultimate will make her immune for a long period.

Requiring a bit of timing, summoning The Punisher’s turret can cancel out the effect of It’s Jeff. If you use Cloak and Dagger, time your switch to Cloak as well and use Dark Teleportation to protect yourself and your allies for two seconds.

Loki’s Deception can confuse the enemy Jeff which Loki is the clone and which Loki is not, so you can also use that as a counter-strategy. Adam Warlock, on the other hamd, may or may not be able to escape Jeff’s ult, but he can surely return safely with his second-life ability.

Conclusion

Jeff the Landshark stays a scary threat for Marvel Rivals players, especially with his It’s Jeff! ult. However, if you know how to counter him, your games against him can gradually become challenges that you can overcome.

What’s your favorite way to counter Jeff the Landshark in Marvel Rivals? Whether it’s dodging with shields, dashing or flying away, making flashy escapes, or just outright layering your own ability on top of his ult, know that every hero has the means to evade!
